Name: Erin
Age: 28

Other Characters: Iskandar (Rifter) from Fate/Series
Interests: Now that I've explored some of the Rifter side of things I thought it would be fun to explore what it was like to have a character who has been living in that world. In this case someone with a connection to the Wardens as well as the Dwarves. It could be interesting to see this play out.

History
A tale of a drunken dwarf...
After the end of Awakening, Oghren stayed on with the wardens. He had a place among them and was always there for drinking games and the like. Of course new recruits couldn't keep up with him but that wasn't about to slow him down. If anything it was almost half the fun to out drink all the poor newbies who didn't realize they probably shouldn't challenge him when it came to alcohol.
Though he never went back to live with his family, he did visit frequently and write to them. Of course he would get help with the spelling in his letters but he would. But he was always there for a fight whenever one came across and it was how he spent his time since his days in Awakening. Recent times led him to realize that his family needed him as a fighter once more and so he actually sent a letter to Felsi this time to explain his actions before he set off to head to where this Skyhold was.
He wasn't good for much but he was good for fighting.
Personality
The first impression one will get of Oghren is that he's rather gross. Not only does he smell but he also finds sexual humor hilarious and he is quite known for belching and passing gas whenever he feels like. And that's before one touches his drinking habits. Honestly though he embraces these things about himself and celebrates them. It's not like it stops him from getting some ladies all up in his bed, after all. Apparently there's still plenty there for them to like about ol' Oghren.
Bad habits aside, he's also one to enjoy a good fight. It once made him well suited to the warrior caste when he lived in Orzammar and suits him even now that he's a surface dwarf. He thrives on fighting, hence why his specialization is that of a berserker. Put him in a fight and he's your dwarf for the job. Even better if you can put him up against a strong opponent maybe he shouldn't be able to beat. Fights are a good time for someone like him and he knows he's good at them when he's not good at much else.
Now saying Oghren knows he's good at fighting when he's not good at much else doesn't mean he spends much time dwelling on this. He's the type to move forward, often without putting much thought into it. Sure he has his regrets about things, something we see with how he talks about Felsi and his child. However, he continues to move forward and doesn't think he should keep trying if all he's going to do is mess things up again. He's not the type to settle down and he's learned this the hard way.
With that said, he deeply cares about and loves his family. Felsi and his child mean the world to him and it's really why he left them to join the Wardens in the first place. He thought he was doing what was best for them. It's only with the help of the Warden Commander that he realizes he can be part of their lives without having to be the screw up father. To do this he visits them constantly and writes weekly. Though he's not living there he's being the best father the world could ask for just by trying and just by being involved in whatever way he can.
Don't think for a second that he's going to let anyone think he's the sentimental type though. He'll fix that with some lewd jokes and being a delightfully smelly male. He's lewd and crude. Oghren also will unintentionally ask questions or make assumptions about groups of people based on very little information he has. Still, he's fun in his own way. Get to know him a bit and become friends with him and you'll find that the smell might be bad but you kinda like having the dwarf around. Just make sure to keep giving him lots of alcohol and don't insult his height.
Opinions & Affiliations
Oghren's opinions are rather interesting in the fact that he doesn't really care much who or what a person is. Well, he does think Dwarves are superior but that mostly comes from the fact that he is one. Really though he doesn't much care who or what someone is and pays more attention to the actions of the individual. Or their attitude. Or their looks if they're female. Now, this isn't to say that he doesn't have some misconceptions though. Even after some time living on the surface he's still sure to jump to the conclusion that all Elves are into nature, that magic is a dangerous thing, and so on. With this said, he is all for the Grey Wardens and is really quite a good one despite the fact that he probably doesn't look it.
Really though, drinking is much more fun. And so are pretty women. So you know what? He's willing to look past quite a lot of those judgments that most would place on a person. Especially if you seem up for a good fight and/or a drink or ten.

Strengths & Weaknesses
Strengths:
Strong: A powerful warrior able to wield his axe in a way that rips down enemies. As a member of the berserker specialization he's mastered the ability to turn rage towards power when he fights. He is definitely one you want to have as an ally rather than an enemy.
Sense of Humor: Some might view this as a weakness but it's really quite a good thing of his. He's able to use it to keep himself uplifted and to break the tension in times of need.
Dwarven Knowledge: As a dwarf who lived in Orzammar for most of his life, he has key knowledge about the dwarven people and Orzammar that others might not have. He is familiar with key families and locations of importance. Not to mention how he was once married to a Paragon which once allowed him certain priviledges.
Two-Handed Weapons: These are his specialty. Especially battle axes.
Big Heart: Sure he is smelly and crude but he does really care about those that he ends up befriending. He might not know the best way to help a person out but he'll find a way to lend a shoulder. Just have some patience while he stumbles about trying to figure out how to get the right words out.
Drinking: For the sake of your liver do not challenge Oghren to a drinking contest. This is the Warden who drank the blood and DIDN'T pass out afterward. He can knock them back and will. Not only that but he can knock them back and do things like fight. That's the impressive thing.
Warden: He has consumed the blood of the darkspawn to be able to sense them in order to combat them. This means that taint is inside him and he can sense them from now on.
Weaknesses:
Smell: You will likely think someone died. Nope. It's just Oghren.
Sense of Humor/Perverted: There are some people with the humor of an adolescent just discovering women have breasts for the first time. That sums up some of the stuff that this dwarf find hilarious. Sadly that part is not a joke. And speaking of breasts/females he sure does love them a lot. And loves talking about sexual things. Also a lot.
Alcohol: One of the ways to his heart is through alcohol. However, it's also one of the reasons why he's known as a disgrace to many among the dwarves and one of the things Felsi hates the most. He practically bleeds ale at this point and certainly must piss it at the very least.
Gross Infections/Wounds/No One Knows: Usually he keeps it to himself but there are times when he comes to healers and trusted people to ask for herbs because something itches and is swollen. Or oozing. Or smell. Or who knows what.
Lack of Knowledge About Other Groups: He's been on the surface for several years now but he's still likely to jump to some conclusions about things without meaning any ill will about it. For example, elves all must love nature obviously. Totally a fact, right?
Acts First: Though he can mean well at times, like when he left Felsi and his child, he usually does this without thinking things through. He simply acts without warning and then forgets there are consequences for doing so. This can lead to things like his wife coming to chew him out. He definitely needs someone else around to do the thinking for him since he's sure to forget all about it most of the time.
Warden: Oh the terrible dreams that come from being a Warden. Not to mention one day he will have to face the Calling. It's not a great ending for a person but it's the one he will have to see in the future.
Inventory
His armor
His battleaxe the Darkspawn Ravenger
His flask
Camping supplies
Toy his kid gave to him that he keeps tucked in his stuff
Motivation
With all that is going on in the world the best way he can protect his family is to join up where the Wardens are said to be and fight too. Fighting is one of the few things he's really good at.
SAMPLES
Sample 1: TDM
Sample 2:
It had probably been a good thing someone had mentioned that he should send a letter to Felsi when they saw him leaving for this Skyhold place. Otherwise who knew when she'd hear about his sudden decision to just up and go to where this Inquisition was. He honestly didn't know much about it but with the dark times around he had this gut feeling that it was the best place for him to be. A good way to be where he was needed so he could keep Felsi and the little one safe.
He chuckled as he drank down another swallow from his flask. She was probably going to be hopping when she found out what he'd done on a whim again. Gone off to war like some stupid warrior caste that he wasn't anymore. But she knew he wasn't going to be the sort of family man like some dwarves could be. It just wasn't the sort of thing he could do. There were times when he regretted that because she deserved that.
Then he'd drink down another swallow of some ale and it helped. Tasted like piss because it was some cheap stuff but when someone was drunk enough they just didn't care anymore. He certainly was that.
Letting out a bubble of gas that he'd had stored in his ass all day, he got a whiff of it then chuckled again. “Heh. That would've curled some hairs. I'll have to save the next one for company.”
The thought was amusing as he popped a bit of boiled egg into his mouth. Kind of bland but he'd forgotten about some seasonings when he'd left. Not that he was one to do those fancy meals like he'd eaten when he was noble. Didn't suit him anyway. Really what would have made it would have been some pickling but only so much time for that. Not like he had what he needed for that to begin with.
Chasing the egg down with some ale, he gave a big snort and then swallowed. A belch followed before he picked what must have been some egg shell out of his teeth as he looked the direction he was going.
Wardens were at Skyhold if he remembered right. Well if they weren't then he'd have to go look for them elsewhere. Sure he could have looked for more information but he wasn't the type to just think that sort of thing through. Leave that to those other types and he'd just swing his axe at whatever ugly bastard got close enough. That suited him a lot more.
“Better have ale at this place or that would be a piss joke by the ancestors,” he grumbled to himself, already settling on making sure that the Wardens and whoever else was there knew how to have a good time. Even if that mean drinking games every night. Heh. Poor sods would never know what was coming to them.
